Living It Rough for SummerA summer project, sponsored recently by the Kam Ching Association and run by the gold medal winners of the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, attracted 120 youngsters from the Western district of Hong Kong.Known as the "Endurance Project", the scheme was suggested by the Western City District Office. Its aim was to improve the physical as well as the mental health of teenage boys during their summer holidays. So, the boys, aged 15 to 19, lived it rough for two days at Tai Shui Hang, near Ma On Shan, Kowloon. They were taught physical fitness, mountaineering, swimming, night hiking, map reading and even went on a 30-mile hike. All expenses were met by the association. |
