Hi everybody,
This morning Bobby, Chris and I went canoeing in Middle Harbour.
It's 7 degrees in early morning, cold enough to form a cloud of mist
above the surface of water. The tranquility is only disturbed by groups
of
seagulls flying over, and the passing by of several other groups of
canoeists.
The sky was light blue, without a trace of cloud.
The water was calm and very clear. This place is one of the many secrets
of
Sydney, definitely worth going out at the weekend.
May be Ka Kui and Corrina would be interested in paddling here.
And Jim too.

ps please change Bobby's email address to bzung@kamching.com

Man Keung,
I was full of envy and admiration when I learned about your Middle
Harbour outing. My previous adventure in the Land of Oz inside the
Sydney Harbour is still fresh in my mind and it will probably linger for
the rest of my life. The temperature was in the lower teens when
we set out at Greenwich and you guys were complaining it was chilly.
Wow, you were braving the 7 degree Celsius weather but on a sunny day this
time. I wish I were there paddling side by side with a few old comrades.
It's been extremely busy since returning from Vancouver. I should
take some time off next weekend and I should call Hung Cheong up to see
if he is keen to go kayaking.
I am still planning to come down for the Olympics. I will finalise
my itinerary over the next few days and will inform you of my plan for
September.
Best regards,
Jim

Man Keung,
I believe should be 1972 (i.e. the third year of round the island) because that year I had a single-seater. The other one should be taken in the same year.
I had combined the two parts of the brochure into one and will return
to Wai Sum tomorrow. She just handed them to me
yesterday at church and then left for work.
regards,
Charles

Kam Wah,
Just talked to Wai Sum over the phone. She'll contact Jim
when she got back the brochure.
(1) There had been a letter from the Duke to Chiu sir. It seems
that Ka Lun had taken it. She'll try to find if there is any copy in
her collection.
(2) I said to her that she can add description to any photo, on any
event, as a supplement to Chiu sir's life and achievement.
(3) Now that I've got Kam Wah's photo, I'll add that to the article
and
take the first two photos on Kamching meeting to the photo album,
on which I'll try to add a new page on the formation of Kamching.
It might be necessary to add a photo (not the document) of us at the
"Tai Wan Tau" event on November 1. Has anyone got that photo?
(4) It might be necessary to add a new page on DEA expeditions.
Has anyone kept a photo on expedition and camping that can reflect
typical situation? And how about a photo of the DEA log book and
gold award certificates.
(5) Has anyone got any photo of the 1967 Gold Award presentation?
(6) The attached group photo might be taken in 1973, although you
said that yours might be taken in 1972.

Dear Man Keung,
(1) This letter must be important. A reference letter written in 1966 by Lord Hunt in the brochure shows how Chiu Sir's work for DEA was deeply appreciated. Personally I look forward to reading what the Duke wrote, remembering that he talked to Chiu Sir one-to-one for 21 minutes, in England.
(2) Good. If she would write something, so much the better.
(3) Yes, I have also noticed that there are not enough coverage (by photos) on the formation of Kamching.
(4) (5) I have got one B&W photo taken during an expedition, with a team (not with Kamching brothers) at that time. I still keep the expedition logbook, but for Silver award only. I am sure others have kept more meaningful ones than these, as I am not a gold award holder.
(6) The two photos were kept side by side in my photo album; so I thought they were taken on the same occasion. If the three years of round-the island races organised by KCA were 1970, 71 and 72, then it should be 1972 when I wore that number cloth (matching with another photo taken during the race). It could be that the group photo showing you, KK and others were taken in 1973, if any one of you can verify. Or maybe 1972 was not the last year?......Very interesting job to find out, isn't it?
regards,
Charles

Hello everybody,
Haven't heard from many of you for quite a number of days.
Why not just write a few sentences per 2 days or a week? The
sent messages are usually stored in the SENT folder which is a
good place to keep your messages and is thus actually a diary.
Today is the last day of the financial year and tomorrow will
begin the new tax system - the GST. Most goods and services
will be charged 10% GST, but the wholesale tax will be abolished
and the income tax lessened. I remembered about 10 years ago
there was a discussion on introducing GST to Hong Kong. Now
is the time for me to experience the impact of it.
I am not as busy as before and can devote some of my time to
design our web and finish the projects, although it's cold at night
--- it's now Winter in Sydney, with temperature of 7 to 17
degrees.
Best regards,
Man Keung
p.s. I am sending this message using Outlook Express 5 on English
language operating system. Do you notice any difference?
